The Legacy Lives On

About The Scholar...

Linda E Hicks, born and raised in the Rolling Fork,
Mississippi dedicated her life to Lord, her family and
education. Linda had a passion for gaining knowledge
therefore she continued her college education by
obtaining a B.S. degree in Music and a Master’s degree in
Biology at Alcorn State University, Lorman, Mississippi.
She applied this knowledge and wisdom that she received
from God to achieve the impossible. She spent 32 years
of her life teaching in the public school systems of
Mississippi. Linda’s desire was to see every student
accomplish their dreams and follow God’s plan for their
lives. Linda transitioned from this life in November, 2013
to be with the Lord.
The Linda E. Hicks Scholarship Award Program was
originally established in 2014 to provide educational
opportunities to participants in the 2014 Apple of My Eye
Girls Conference, for their academic achievements. The
Scholarship provided a one-time award of $500 payable
to the recipient to assist with their tuition, registration or
other fees, books, or items necessary for school room
and board.
This year’s award will be extended to three candidates for
a $1,000 each. These awards will continue to fulfill
Linda’s legacy of furthering the post-secondary education
and training of young men and women upon graduating
from high school.
